The Style Invitational Whites
By Dave "Bluesman" Zarrow
Artwork by Jennifer Hart
This song was written for that week, long ago, when the Czar
merely printed a blank space with no instructions for the new contest. So Dave Z. went musically
ballistic. Don't worry, Dave's therapist says he's nearly over it now.
Woke up this mornin', had them Style Invitational Whites,
When I woke up this mornin', yes I had then Style Invitational Whites,
'Cause my Post had a blank spot, where that Czarman usually writes.
That darn ol' blank contest got me drinkin' rotgut wine from a paper bag,
Lawd, I'm sittin' here drinkin' cheap wine from a brown paper bag,
'Cause that Czar's done left me wonderin', what to do with this week's gag.
Well them mean S.I. Whites,
Make me feel bad, you know,
Got to come up with sumpin',
Be it highbrow or low,
Perhaps West Virginia,
Do it Jeopardy style,
'Cause I ain't won one of them doggone t-shirts in a reeeeeeally, really long while.
(Instrumental jam)
Oh I woke up this mornin', people, I had them Style Invitational Whites,
Just a blank piece of paper, well you know this contest really bites.
